Colliers International is actively seeking an Owner’s Assistant Project Manager to join our rapidly growing Project Management Team serving the New York City region.  In May 2016, Colliers expanded the NYC Team with the addition of Gorton & Partners, a successful project management firm.  If you are a professional seeking a new challenge in an exciting environment, this may be the right moment to join our highly respected team as we elevate our presence in this dynamic market.  The Assistant Project Manager is a mid-level position responsible for supporting and coordinating activities of designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives are accomplished by performing the following duties personally or by providing support to Project Managers, Sr. Project Managers, or Executives.

Essential Functions:  
Candidates MUST be familiar with the building design and construction process. This position will require management capabilities and the ability to work on site with clients on a regular basis.  

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with the management of Building projects through all phases (design, construction, and close-out);
  • Review project related materials such as drawings and specifications, submittals, RFIs, RFPs, budgets, schedules, contracts and proposals for services.
  • Assisting with the management of projects to completion, on-time, within budget, and within scope of work;
  • Attend project related meetings and perform necessary follow-up
  • Support the development  of reports, budgets, schedules, presentations, minutes, RFPs etc.… for management, clients, or others using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, and PowerPoint)
  • Responsible for the organization and maintenance of project files, electronic and hard copy
  • Coordinates with project Team members to establish and maintain the flow of information including, but not limited to, following up on deliverables, scheduling meetings, etc.
  • Read and understand construction drawings and specifications. Able to generate quantity take-offs for estimating purposes.
  • Review and summarize agreements of consultants and contractors.
  • Visiting project sites as needed or required

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors preferred with at least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience and practical construction knowledge to be able to assess sequencing, quality, cost, and progress issues; background in the building design / construction, architecture, and/or engineering field.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage various tasks, schedules, and deliverables;
  • Enthusiasm to promote and drive implementation of projects;
  • Demonstrated experience in problem solving skills, planning and organizing, decision-making; and 
  • Excellent communication skills, influencing and leading, facilitation and team work capabilities.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally and to multi-task & prioritize.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Management of residential, retail or commercial development projects in NYC
