PROJECT MANAGER

New York Office

Colliers International is actively seeking an Owner’s Project Manager to join our rapidly growing Project Management Team serving the New York City region.  In May 2016, Colliers expanded the NYC Team with the addition of Gorton & Partners, a successful project management firm.  If you are a professional seeking a new challenge in an exciting environment, this may be the right moment to join our highly respected team as we elevate our presence in this dynamic market.  The Project Manager is an experienced level position responsible for directing and coordinating activities of designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives are accomplished by performing the following duties personally or by providing support to Sr. Project Managers, or Executives.

Essential Functions:  
Candidates MUST be knowledgeable in the building design and construction process. This position will require strong project management capabilities and the ability to work on site with clients and stakeholders on a regular basis.  

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Knowledge of project management process and roles of each team member.
  • Leads and supports the process of establishing the development goals and objectives for the Project with Ownership and the project team.
  • Knowledge of the design process practiced by the architecture and engineering teams. Understands the design deliverables and the associated timetables.
  • Knowledge of development, construction process and current market trends budgeting; hard and soft costs.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and manage project budgets and schedules.
  • Knowledge of construction to be able to identify, assess and mitigate issues related to scheduling, logistics, cost, quality and progress.
  • Review and evaluate project related materials such as project descriptions, drawings and specifications, budgets, schedules, contracts, and proposals for services prepared by others.
  • Manage and develop project related documents such as monthly reports, budgets, schedules, presentations, minutes, insurance tracking logs, etc. utilizing Microsoft Office for management, client, or others.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of project files; electronic and hard copies.
  • Manage or prepare requested or ongoing project reporting on a regular basis.
  • Manage the coordination of multiple project team members to meet project goals and objectives
  • Provide input to resolve or mitigate project issues.
  • Assist in negotiation process; from contracts to changes orders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • 7+ years of experience required in the building construction, architecture, and/or engineering fields 
  • Out of the ground construction or complex gut renovation project experience is highly preferred;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage various tasks, schedules, and deliverables for multiple stakeholders
  • Enthusiasm to promote and drive implementation of projects
  • Demonstrated experience in problem solving skills, planning and organizing, decision-making
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in team environments  
  • Demonstrated ability to manage outside consultant teams for timely receipt of deliverables.
  • Administrative and reporting skills to work independently and generate concise and accurate spreadsheets, narrative reports and correspondence
